Application Form
Visit the university’s website and fill in the application form. You can also drop in an email to the university; admission office requesting them to send you the application material. As other alternate, application form can be downloaded from the university’s website and used as a regular application form. Follow the instructions and guidelines stated by the University for filling the form. Avoid making mistakes and overwriting. Every university in China accepts applications with an application fee for processing the forms. The amount differs from university to university, but usually ranges between 380 Yuan and 770 Yuan. The university will not start processing your form until the payment is verified; hence, pay the fee well in advance and get a receipt in turn, to be attached with the application documents.
 
Documentation Required
Along with the application form, universities and colleges in China require certain documents to check your eligibility and suitability for the respective applied course. Given below are the documents to be sent in the application packet:
  • Original or certified copies of senior high school certificate and schooling records.
  • Copies of official transcripts of the courses undertaken and grades awarded at the last college or university attended, stamped by the official authorities.
  • HSK certificate, with a minimum Band 4-6 for undergraduate programs and Band 5-8 for postgraduate programs, to show proficiency of Chinese language.
  • Applicants whose native language is not English have to take English language proficiency tests, such as TOEFL or IELTS, and qualify with the minimum required scores.
  • Score cards of GRE or GMAT if you are applying to an MBA program is requisite.
  • Two academic recommendation letters from scholars of associate professorship or higher, with details of phone number and email address.
  • Resume or personal statement to discuss the personal details of the applicant, such as personal qualities, interests, educational background, future academic or career plans, and so on.
  • Bank’s solvency certificate to take care of financial funds in China
  • 3 copies of recent passport size photograph
  • A photocopy of valid passport
  • Copy of page with personal information in the passport
  • Certificate of application fee
 
Complete Formalities
It takes about 4 to 8 weeks for the university’s admission office to process all the applications. Once the universities are done with the screening, the admission office will start notifying the accepted candidates via email. So, keep logging in to your email account for admission notification and further formalities to be completed. You may or may not be asked to sit for further examination or interview. If so, be prepared and give the examination and interview with confidence. You will be notified after you pass these formalities and the decision is approved by the International Student Committee of the university. The university will mail you the Admission Letter, Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202/JW201), and Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners. While applying for student visa, take these completed forms, along your original passport, one recent passport size photo, and visa fees, to the Embassy or Consulate of the People’s Republic of China. It will take about 4-5 working days to issue X-visa to you, after which you will have to make necessary arrangements for your departure to China. Apply for a residence permit within 30 days after your arrival in China.
